Fuel pump rebuilding 101

No problem Tom. I hope that it helps other save time, effort and money.

well, i'd love to use that to assist me in rebuilding my pump soon but you're missing pics already. the very useful ones for valve reinsertion and such. fantastic job otherwise, and is very useful.

Great job as usual Paul. I'm always impressed by the volume and quality of the pictures.

Flinky,

The valve reinsertion is simply a tap in with a socket. Perhaps I should have stated that, but I assumed that it would be easy to figure out. What else do you feel is missing as part of the "and such" in your statement above? I may additional pictures that I can insert.

I thought that this would take the major questions away from this job, but perhaps it's missing something. Feel free to advise.

Nice writeup Paul. I wish I had that a few months ago when I was rebuilding my fuel pump!

Is that Jeff Palya's work with the polishing? Nice work whoever did it!

Gracias, amigo!

Yes Shannon, it was Jeff Palya's work.

Dale, yours is the "younger brother" mentioned in the apge.

first, i'd like to say this service to the triumph community in general is priceless. second, all the pictures showed up in my browser this time and everything makes sense now.

I was really hung up on how you removed and replaced the valves, being that they are delicate pieces and the body is aluminum and thus soft. it must have been a mix of my browser not recieving all the pics and the late night reading through almost all your pages of valuable information.

i apologize if i came off as ungrateful, quite the opposite actually. you really make me want to get mine polished along with my carb rebuild, but i think i've already pushed my line of driver vs show car already.

again, fantastic documentation and will keep many a triumph owner from making a mistake that might not be repairable.

Hey Flinkly, no problem. I thought that I had really missed something from the way it sounded. BUT, with that being said and in all fairness to you, I will correct the installation of the valves to make more sense. I really didn't take pictures of that or couldn't actually because I was a one man show doing it and I couldn't hold the camera and have a hammer and socket in both hands at the same time.

I DO NOT mind constructive criticism at all. It's the only way that any of us ever get any better at what we're doing.

tell me about it. i'm the newest engineer where i work and the learning curve is steep and full of constructive criticism. Got to learn quickly to take it, but not personally.

...and if you get any better at improving that TR6...
