Fuel pump rating for Weber DGV Carb?

What PSI rated fuel pump should I use on a Weber DGV carb for my 1275 series A engine. I am currently have a 5 to 9 PSI rated fuel pump that I am changing out.

Thanks,

Mike

You won't need anymore than 3 psi. It's about the same as an SU in that regard.

Thanks aeronca65t. One question, would a pump putting out up to 9 psi cause a problem? I am questioning the existing fuel pump I have in place with to much pressure to the bowl and blowing past the inlet causing a fuel issue.

Thanks,

Mike

Edward:

I was having problems with my S.U.'s so for simplicity sake I went to the Weber. Got it running the night I installed. I went to start up the next morning and she spit and sputtered. Seems if I give it full gas for awhile I can get her to level out but in a very short period of time I stall. Perhaps a float adjustment but it's a new Weber and I wanted to avoid that. It almost seems to be flooding out. I was stalling at idle on my old set up then it got worse. Fuel line seems to be cleared but perhaps the feeder in the tank is clogged a bit. I have a relative that could never figure out why his midget was stalling and it ended up being a rusted tank feeder valve (the part of the fuel line that is in the tank, not sure what its called). The electrics checked out fine but I believe that the timing needs to be advanced a bit with the new Weber, at least that's what I have read. My fuel pump is rated at 5- 9 psi and I don't have a regulator on it. With all that being said, I thought I'd go to a lower pressure fuel pump. A friend of mine that runs a Cobra suggested that the fuel pressure could be blowing past the bowl and flooding her out. Ironically my post is next to an older post of fuel pump which make me believe I'm getting to much pressure. My friends suggest that a fuel filter be put on both side of the pump. Let me know if you figure it out. I'm going to get a lower pressure fuel pump tomorrow and give it a try.

I'm riding your coat-tails on this one! Mine is very similar. I can only get it up to 2400 RPM, then it completely cuts out. I rebuilt the carb and checked all the jetting and float levels and it didn't change a thing. You'll probably get yours going quicker than me, so I'll wait to hear how it goes. Thanks for the info!

Yes, absolutely. I once bought a car with an unregulated Facet pump and Weber DGV. It was flooding like crazy until I fitted a fuel pressure regulator.

My present vintage race car will flood if I turn the regulator up to 6 psi (I race at around 3 psi).

By the way, I'd recommend the Holley fuel pressure regulator sold at Summit Racing.
