should my fuel pump run all the time or should it cut off occassionaly, say.. after pressure builds up?
my reason asking is ive been working under the hood with ignition on and dont want to burn mine out somehow...zimmy

If its an original SU pump, it should cut off once the system has pressurized itself....if it doesn't cut off, you've got fuel delivery issues (as in, an air leak)

Also, make sure your coil is not energized while the key is left on for long periods.
