The only fuel pressure guage I can find locally is one designed to test GM cars with a "schrader" test valve...

I want to test the fuel pressure on my Alfa, but I'm not too sure I can use this one (my car doesn't have a test valve that I know of).

I have a L-jetronic diagnostic manual for VW engines that has flow tests (where you time how much fuel comes out of the cold start injector fuel tube. But that doesn't test the pressure.

Can anyone help me on this?
 
I bought one at a local parts store that they called a fuel injection pressure gauge. It came with an assortment of tees to put inline in fuel lines. I just walked in, described what I wanted and the guy handed it to me. If your local parts guys can't produce such a thing, try Eastwood or SnapOn on line.
 
Yup. Just so ya get one that's ~accurate~ is about all that matters. Tap into the rail supply with a "tee" fitting and Bob's yer uncle. Supply side pressure should be up over 30 P.S.I. 35 morelike. I think the injectors need 28 as a minimum to deliver a proper pattern. You can rig up a trigger wire to open the injectors. I'll do a photo of the "gizmo" I have.

And a Mason jar with a hole in the lid, a grommet of the appropriate size to allow the injector 'snoot' to fit yet seal somewhat and you can see the pattern without spritzing gas all over the place.
