Today I replaced the fuel pump...all went well but I did not replace the compression fittings on the two fuel lines....I should have because i'm leaking gas...how do I get the old brass compression fitting off of the fuel line? Thanks as always...Ed,,,world worst mechanic...but trying:encouragement:

What im learning is i need to replace the fuel lines....or the ends and use new compression fitting and only 1/2 turn past hand tight.

The compression fitting can be removed from the fuel line with a file, a hack saw or a Dremmel tool with a cut off blade. I prefer the Dremmel tool. You just need to go slow and avoid cutting into the fuel line. That fitting is simply pressed onto the fuel line from the force of the nut behind it.
over the years there has been a discussion of how the new compression fittings differ from the originals. For myself I have been able to remove and replace the fittings and get them to seal again.

Thanks for getting back to me...today was a bit of a fiasco.....cut of the end of fuel line to pump.....new compression fitting and viola...perfect.....the side to the carbs is not cooperating...ordered a new fuel line from MOSS....no its parked until it comes....Ed
