The recent Moss injection as well as the ones shown on the referenced page seem aimed more at clean running than performance.

These would make the engine sit up a bit.....if you fitted a pair to a crossflow head!

Or mebbe find an old Lucas "slider" setup. That'd be "period" as well.

There was a nice Tecalemit Jackson mechanical set up, but grinding control cams to change specs instead of programming a laptop or burning a new chip could get old real quick, especially because filing off just a little too much means you have to start again!

The magic of electronic isn't the method of controlling metering, it is the incorporation of feedback control, so that instead of trying to predict what the fuel requirement at a certain throttle and load setting will be, an electronic control quickly adjuts to what the engine needs right then and there.
