Fuel Guage non workee - suggestions?

Guage just sits on empty. Besides verifying there's actually fuel in the tank, is there a set of steps to follow to diagnose? I have a new sending unit ready to install, but don't want to jump to dropping the tank if there's something else to check first.

Thanks much.

possibly check the fuses. i had the same trouble the other day. gauge and tach, stopped working. it was a blown fuse.

good luck

Just curious but can the hot lead to a sending unit be jumped just to see if the gauge goes up?

Mine was not working either....
i took down the gas tank to empty some old fuel and thats when i noticed the wire going to the fuel sending unit was in tough shape. I replaced the wire and its now working.

If all else fails drop the tank.
