Had an issue w/ my old SU fuel pump. So replaced the pump w/ a solid state SU version. The replacement went well & the pump works fine. Delivers a good flow of fuel through the filter when disconnected from the carb. But looking at my fuel filter it appears to be empty. (I can see pulsing fuel delivery into the filter) The car starts and runs. but sure looks like it will be "starved" during driving. Prior to the pump change, I had some level of fuel in the filter. Is this normal? Do I need to "prime" the filter? Never had to in the past??

Ralph - What you are experiencing is perfectly normal. Bottom line, you car is running the same as before. When I had a filter hooked to the output of the pump on my test stand, t would take somewhere between 12 and 24 hours of continuous running for the filter to finally become full. I have never heard a scientific explanation as to why this happens, but have finally accepted that this is just the way it works.
