Fuel Filter Change Interval

I have a '64 MGB and wonder how often to change the fuel filter. I have one of those clear filters in the line about a foot upstream from the carbs. It was on the car when I got it a year ago. The prior owner put a new fuel pump on just before I bought it about it 13 months ago (aftermarket, not SU, looks like a Borg Warner pump). I don't know when the filter was last replaced. Prior owner is an experienced restorer and kept up the maintenance on the car religously. Car runs great, mileage is mid-20s MPG US. I am driving 1200 to 1500 miles a year. Filter looks OK, no apparent signs of sediment, discoloration, etc., but I am not sure what I should be looking for to be frank. Filters are cheap. I had the head rebuilt and reinstalled recently by the local LBC mechanic expert (never converted to run unleaded gas and leaking head gasket). He adjusted the carbs of course when he put the head back on. No comment from him about any problems in the fuel system at all.

What are your thoughts on fuel filter replacement interval under these conditions? Thank you.

Whenever I buy a car - regardless of its condition or maintenance history - I always do a complete major tuneup & replace everything (points, plugs, wires, hoses, fluids, filters, etc)...then, at least, I have a known starting point.

Fuel filters...
I had an intermitant fuel problem that I just resolved on my mga. Basically, the car was fine until I did some sustained freeway driving for 20 to 30 minutes. Then I would lose power and it was as it I was only running on two cylinders. Pulled over and checked the su fuel bowls and the front su fuel bowl was empty. So I cleaned everything, put new grommet washers at the fuel bowls, etc. When I checked the su fuel pump the little screen was clogged with bits of rust from the tank. I can only sermise that when the fuel pump clogged it reduced the psi getting to the carbs and shut down the front one.
So now I have installed a fuel filter before it gets to the su fuel pump and one before it gets to the carbs. This seems to have solved the intermittant fuel problem and I have driven 200 miles with out any issue.

You may want to check you fuel pump to make sure the inside screen is in good condition or if cleaning is required.
