Fuel Filler Tube Color?

Question: What's the proper color for the fuel filler tube, the one the gas cap fits onto? I've looked on this site, in the concours manual, and the Anderson/Moment restoration guide and find nothing regarding color. Is it body color or just silver/metal? I know, I know, who really cares? But I have it off and will reinstall it in the next day or so, makes sense to spend a few minutes to make it look right. Any ideas? Thanks,
-Tom

Hey Tom,
every one I have ever seen has been the unfinished silver color. I had a
61 BT7 and it was silver and my 58 BN6 is silver. Owned several BJ8's and
it was always silver color on them too.
Regards,
Mike

Mine looked like zinc plated. I'm redoing my Healey and going to CAD plate it.

WHY!!! you can not see it in a BJ8, Save you money--Keoke-

OK, metal color it is. There's some black overspray on mine so I'll wire wheel it off, then primer and spray with a gray metallic I have that looks pretty close to zinc plating. Close enough for me, anyway. Many thanks for the replies,
-Tom
