Spitfire FS: Three GT6s & a Spit... Dirt cheap!

Hi all,

I hate to see a Triumph going to waste and noticed an ad locally (N. Calif., Bay Area) for 3 GT6s and a Spitfire, priced all of $50 to $150 apiece.

The ad makes em sound like parts cars, and the pics aren't encouraging, but still might be worth a look for anyone who has room for one or more and wants a project.

Unfortuantely I don't have the space or time right now, or I'd be checking to see if a good GT6 Mk IV might be buildable from the bunch! Some day... Sigh!

Ad is here.

Aside from what we can see in the ad, I have no knowledge of the seller or the cars.

Thanks, I just sent him an email....too bad they weren't a little closer to me, kinda hard to justify shipping parts cars across the continent but it might just be worth it...

That red GT6 looks pretty solid.....

Hi again,

A little additional info, because someone looking at these might be unfamiliar with this area, there is much hype about "California cars" and these particular cars appear to have been stored outside for a while. The Brentwood area, sort of midway between the SF Bay Area and Sacramento or Stockton, where these cars are located is relatively dry about 9 months of the year. However, there is rainfall in the winter and, rarely, justy barely freezing temps. Probably the 300+ days of bright sunshine we enjoy each year is the hardest thing on cars that are not garaged.

Of course it's impossible to say for certain without close inspection, but cars that are left sitting on their tires can succumb to rust pretty slowly in my neck of the woods. Technically speaking, it's close to a desert environment, averaging less than 15" of rain a year. However, be warned that a car off it's wheels and directly on the ground, or any part that's removed from a car and left directly on the ground, will often rust almost immediately and irrepairable damage is possible in a matter of days or weeks. Local factors, such as a nearby stream or body of water, which can be fresh or salty (Sacramento is an inland port city), can play a *major* roll in a car's condition, too.

Hope this is helpful.

No pics yet.....Just looked at the ad again...he says shipping negotiable....you think he'd ship to Ontario??lol

I wonder if he'd ship 'em to my grave? That's where I'd be if I bought 'em /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The next vehicle I buy should be a motorhome,'cause I'll
have to live in it if I bring another one home.

Sounds great Klutz.....unfortunatly I won't be able to get out of Ontario.....Only opinion would be to send a truck down....probably about $4000...alot more than those car are worth....anyone hear from him?

Just got an email. They have been sold. Who got them? I need a TR motor and trans. I'm about 30 mins away from them.

Heck, they all looked rebuildable to me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I have a GT6 MK3 for sale in the classified section of this site. It's nowhere near what would be considered a parts car, and its in Grand Rapids, MI. Which if our excellent american schools have taught me anything, its that GR is closer to Ontario than California.

It would have to be trailered, but its a great car, that does run and drive, with decent mileage. It seems that I am going to be fixing that gas line in order to sell the car though.

TriumphGT6, see my post in your thread.....or my email.

I hope those California cars found a good home
