Just wanted to vent a bit.

I sent the Whitephrog back to the paint and body shop a few weeks ago to correct some less than satisfactory work they had previously done for me. Shop is owned by a very long time good friend. I had him come out to look at the car before I sent it back. He agree that the corrections needed to be made.

First issue: Car sit outdoors but under cover for a week at his shop.

Second issue: Corrections were made satisfactorily but I now have over spray on all my front suspension and steering components. Those had all been restored in pristine condition before going back to the shop.

Third issue: I now have light surface rust on several "natural" surfaces.

I've spent they past few days disassembling and prepping. Hope to get everything repainted tomorrow. I'm claer coating everything that stays "natural".

My goal was to have the car ready for the Townsend show on May 9 but that's not going to happen now.

My paint and body guy is still my friend but I've learned a lesson about folks who do mostly insurance work vs a restoration shop.

Hi Ray,

I was just passing thru & noticed your post.

I`m helping a friend restore (Nut & Bolt) a `69 Alfa-Romeo Duetto. I personally did a Nut & Bolt on a `58 MGA. I know how much time & effort go into "Detailing" a car.

Your friend must have been "Hung Over" from the night before. It should`ve been pretty evident that you spent a lot of time etc. in detailing your car. He should`ve taken the necessary steps to make certain everything was covered, taped-off or something to prevent the over-spray.

Oh Well; Live and Learn.

Have Fun "Re-Detailing".

Regards, Russ

He has five or six guys that work for him. I've never seen him have more business than he has now. A sign of the economic times I suppose.

I have 2 friends that have body shops, and I think it might be a genetic problem with bodymen. Although well meaning, it happens and it is agravating when it happens to you. The only sure way to keep it from happening to you is be there when it is painted and assure that those places are properly masked. Maybe the second time through, it won't happen, but....GOOD LUCK
