TR2/3/3A Front wheel bearings direction and torque

I've eventually (after nearly 6 month wait) got a day to work on my '61 TR3. I repacked the bearings(which I took off last August) and have 2 questions 1) Which end of the outer bearings goes on the axle first, is it the smaller or bigger end of the bearing and what torque should I use on the castle nut before backing it off?

Thanks for helping, one of those days

TR3pilot, odd question as with the race intact on the hub, it can only go in Small End first. Torque to 35 lbs and back off one flat to get the split pin in.
