TR6 Front TR6 Suspension Question...

I have a 1975 TR. At times when I hit a bump, the front end seems loose and is felt in the steering wheel. I replaced shocks, rebuilt the front end with poly bushings, new ball joints, tie rod ends...I did not do anything with the sway bar...Can that be it? I appreciate your help

Open the hood and turn the steering wheel. Does the steering rack slide inside the the mounts? If so, replace them. The aluminum mounts are very nice replacements and should last for the life of the car. Regardless, it probably wouldn't hurt to replace them and the sway bar bushings and connecting links. The connecting links can wear out and the rubber bushing will rattle around inside the metal ball.

On mine, that "looseness" felt through the steering wheel was caused by worn ~inner~ tie rod ends. I had replaced everything else in the front suspension including the outer tie rods but failed to realize the inners were shot and that they were the reason for the "jiggles".

Thanks fellas for coming through. I will do everything suggested and will keep you posted....Thanks again, Ralph

Welcome Ralph!

Can you move your steering wheel and the column at rest? There is a shelf where the welds break and a column bush that allows for play over time.

You've already replaced a lot of stuff so check out the steering column bushings and the rubber coupling which is prone to splitting and consider replacing the steering rack mounts with solid mounts.
