Front Suspension. What design changes did it have?

Were there any differences in the design & construction of the front end on MGB's from 1962 to 1980?

The only one I think I know of is that the early front subframe had a "tow hook tab" welded in the front which was later taken out and hooks added to the bumper brackets.

Any others that I might be missing? I have several front ends and am making up a refurbished one for my 1974. I want to make sure that I am not refinishing something that I cannot use.

Suspension beams are different - later RB beams had a platform welded on them to push the beam away from the car.

What is a the suspension beam? Is that what I am reffering to as the subframe?

Right! Front cross member. So 1962-1974ish are all the same front ends.

The mounting brackets for the steering rack are different on the later models. They stand out farther on the late models, or is it the early models? Oh well, I'm not sure why, but their different.
