I am in the process of removing the front shroud.
Am now ready to drill out the rivets, I started with a 1/8 bit and it too small. Before I keep going with larger sizes can anyone give more info on the actual rive size and the hole in the shroud.

Also, any added info will be appreciated.
 
I usually use a 1/4" drill bit, just not one with the pilot tip. Drill perpendicular to the rivet head and use light pressure. As the head is drilled through ( and separates from the rest of the rivet), it will start to spin, keeping the drill from boring into the bodywork.
 
Shroud is very light but willing to bet you will have to get strong with it to get it off. It almost "form fitted" but the aluminum works easy enough to reshape.

Under where the dashpad was, there should be some putty that will hold the shroud down to the scuttle. I've never had to deal with it, but I hear it can be a bear. Be sure to use putty when you replace the shroud so you won't have air leaks. IIRC Roger (AUSMHLY) had problems with his demister because of that.
 
With a little fiddling....gently.....it popped loose a little at a time. The sealant was very brittle, and I found the sealant you mentioned around the demister.

Took enough photo to remind me to reseal when I reinstall it.

Looks like this is the first time it was removed an the original paint is still there. It was not painted before the original installation as the paint in the dash area is only what sprayed through the holes in the steel cowling.
