Question on the front spindle castle nuts that hold the rotor/hub onto the spindle....

...is one of the two a reverse thread? I am having a really rough time with one side and it won't budge loose. I've tried both clockwise and counter-clockwise to get it moving and have had no luck. I'd like to confirm the thread orientation before I bring out the big guns to crack it loose.

Thanks!

I think they both go the same way as I recall. But my memory may be failing me. There is a cotter pin needed and 45 ft lbs of torque. Get the PB Blaster working in there for a while. It should come loose easily. I found on my DS that 45 lbs was too tight to spin freely, needed to back off one flat. Now I'm concerned I'm not tight enough.

Yes, Jim is correct, they both tighten in the usual manner, its the wire wheel spinners that are opposite thread on one side.

Thanks guys - I have two sessions of PB blaster on it, I'll head back out and try again.

I am overly cautious now...when I took the rear end apart, I couldn't get the darn big nut off and cut it in half to get it off....then I noticed it was threaded opposite.
