So I'm looking for a new Mk3 badge for the front shroud . Victoria British is considerably cheaper than the others . Has anyone got one from them and is the quality of the badge good, bad , lousy ?

Healey Nut

I have not seen great aftermarket badges.

However there are badge restoration places that re chrome and restore the Closion :highly_amused: in your badge.

You will have google them I am not at home and the good one I used is not on my Favorites list.

The cost for mine was about $250.00 several years ago but it was really good.

A NOS one might show up on US/UK E bay?

eBay looks like the real thing to me. $175.00 (no financial interest!)

Link worked fine for me. Select it, right mouse click and chose "Open link in new tab". I'm using Firefox so there may be a slight difference in procedure.

if you look at the "link" it's not highlighted in blue like biggreens in the next post so it won't work on safari or Google

Just copy [paste] this into E bay search it will work fine:

"Brand-New-Original-Vintage-Austin-Healey-3000-Mk-III-Hood-Emblem-"

OH! It does not look original to me?????

It actually looks like it was rechromed, with a bit too much buffing on the left side. Cloisonne would obviously be redone too, if that were the case, and looks pretty good (too bad about the diminished detail in the chrome).

But hey, what do I know; my Healey Wings don't have all that extra advertising on them... :p

The metal is not original, for sure. Chrome looks new, but the (copper) base layer is to thick

The cloisonné is good on my original but the chrome is peeling . I'm going to take it to my chromer and see if it can be re chromed without damaging the cloisonné ?

Be carefuj hereHealey Nut:
T he cloisonné can appear good but may be detached in some places. placing the badge in the plating tank can cause Black spots to appear underneath the cloisonné .

Well I found the pics on E-bay and have sat with my I-pad with close up pics and the original in my hand and the so called E-bay original does seem to have slightly "cartoonish" lettering particularly the 3000 . The letters on my original all have sharp edges whereas the other looks kinda fuzzy ....it could of course just be a crappy camera angle and poor image quality .

No not Crappy camera angle:

Most plateres that are not restoration types buff too much which causes the insignia lettering to widen out and other details to be compromised also.

Well someone must think its the real thing. Seller has a bid of $175.00 on it!

Bet they are not BCF Members---or need one desperately------:highly_amused:

Ok so let me rephrase my question .
Has anyone bought a reproduction Mk3 shroud badge that they are happy with and where from ?

Ok experts this is the one on my 67 BJ8 that I restored ....is it original, restored or repro ?

My first impression ..

Looks like a badge that was originaly painted, with the cloisonné added
I have one like this with the words "Quicksilver Stanford CT" in the back

Find what you like and use it ;-)
