Front Shock Mounting

Hello

The previous owner of my BT7 repaired the L/H shock mounting but did not do a very good job. I have a new mounting plate that I want to install to rectify this issue. Has anyone replaced one of these and if so, is there a trick to ensure that it is properly aligned and at the correct height?
