Front end "thunk", but read on!

So, fixed the grease zerk on the lower ball joint.
Lubed it all up.
Replaced the rear tork arm bushings with Poly (old ones were multi piece).

So, I backed it out of the garage, hit the brakes, sounded like this THUNK in the left front.
Carp (done to bypass filters) I thought.
I'd looked at all the inner A-arm bushings, they were okay.
Wheel bearings are okay.
Ball joints and tire-rod ends okay.

What could it be?

(RHD MK2...this is important).

Kept doing it at odd times, usually when backing and applying brakes.

Feeling around in the parcel shelf below the gauges in the centre of the dash for a stogie, and I come out with a brand-new 76 Union antenna ball (my local Texaco went to Shell, and just became a 76).

Danged thing would roll back in the parcel shelf when I hit the brakes, when I stopped it would roll back to the front of the parcel shelf with a loud "thunk".

If it had been a LHD car, since the noise is in-line with the opposite front suspension, I would have thought it was RF.

Removed ball, noise gone.

Geez.
