Just refitting new brakes on front of TR3. The shoes have a lot of sideways motion right now and the springs are not very tight. Adjusters are completely backed off. Is this "slop" normal? I thought that the shoes were held fairly securely against the wheel cylinders by the springs. Is this sideways movement normal as currently installed? Once drums are on and shoes adjusted I guess all will be OK, but thought I'd ask first. Cheers, Mike

Do you mean sideways as in left to right in your photo? If so, that is perfectly normal. The shoes float around to precisely match the drum. The springs are just to collapse the cylinders once you take your foot off the brake.

Yes Randall, left to right movement. Thanks for your continued help with a wide range of questions. Cheers, Mike
