i plan to fix my brakes this week...
they work ok, but the pads are wore out....
i ordered 2 clips, 4 retaining pins,
new bleeders, and i already have pads and new
hoses........
other than fluid, did i forget anything?
....zzzimmmy

anti squeal spray stuff for the new anti squeal shims?

Rotors?

are new shims necessary?
i havent disassembled yet so i
dont know whats in there....
i can get them at Oreillys etc, right?

If they are even still there zimmy....be carfull when removing them, might be able to re-use. wont really hurt anything if you dont re-use or install new ones. I would use the antisqueal stuff either way. and that should be avaiable at any parts/chain store.

I recently redid my front brakes and decided on getting caliper rebuild kits and a couple new pistons as two of mine were badly pitted. You never know what your going to find until you open those calipers up.

ya, thats what im scared of ....a week with no car and another $100+ missing! doh! ; )...
how tuff is that caliper rebuild?...zimmy

With your expertise, maybe 30 min a side.

i did my calipers, and it is pretty straight forward. takes longer to dissassemble and clean, than to reassemble. i used air to pop the old cups out, a grease gun would probaly work as well if you can get it to seal well. Be sure both halves are very clean where they mate together, use new seals. and as far as how tight the bolts should be....well i wasnt aware of this forum when i did mine so i tightned them to what i felt was appropriate (elbow torque). havent had any problems in 3 years. guess i am just lucky

I rebuilt mine, c'mon, if I can do it......
