Front anti-roll bar link

What am I missing? I am trying to strip the front suspension of a '77 MGB which sat for 20+ years, and I simply cannot get the anti roll bar link to separate from the lower wishbone.

A lot of stuff is rusted together in the suspension, so it could just need a bigger hammer, I suppose. I thought I would ask... While I am on - how do I get the top bolt out of the trunnion? Tried soaking with Kroil for a long time, and I have used my biggest hammer - no movement. The vertical link through this trunnion is also stuck. The trunnion is shown NLA in the places I have looked for parts, so I don't want to ruin it if possible.

Thanks in advance for any advice
Alistair

Alistair, one that's sat that long may be helped with the intense heat from a propane torch. Sometimes it takes days using heat and/or penetrating oil to get things to free up. If you do ruin a NLA part trying to separate things you can generally find a good used replacement on evilBay (so at least you have that as a consulation). The re-assembly of the refurbished and new parts is the fun part and reward for what you're going through now. Good luck!

If you got the nut off the stud it should about pop out with one whack. If you mean the nut just turns and turns, the link is shot. It has a vulcanized joint in there with a steel ball at the end of the threaded stud going thru the lower A-arm link. Once it breaks loose from the link you're into cutting mode. SawzAll or cut-off wheel.

The trunion bolt is a "heat and beat" task. Lots of penetrant and time, too.

Thanks for the ideas. The ARB link seems to be rusted in place. The nut came off without much of a fight, but the link itself won't budge. I guess I will try heat (I should probably own some sort of propane torch, right?). I'll give it another round of beating with the hammer and see if I have any luck.

Thanks again
Alistair
