Howdy gang:

I'll be driving my '59 BT7 from York to DC on Saturday, and would love some words of wisdom on any good scenic non-interstate options. Thanks!

Bill-

I can help ya with one or two of my old biker routes
from Pa to the Baltimore beltway. After Bal-a-mer,
yer on yer own. Two fun runs:

1. Shrewsbury, PA -take Main Street south and it will become
the Susquehanna Trail which becomes Old York Road.
OYR you can wind your way clear down to the Baltimore
beltway,if ya want. We usually got off OYR at Cockeysville, MD
and onto Rt 83. A pretty ride though.

2. Drive over to Red Lion and pick up Route No. 24 south thru
the apple farms. Keep on Rt24 to Wiley and at the fork take Rt23 south
to Madonna, MD and pick up Rt 146, Jarettsville Pike. Note you will
intersect Old York Road and can take it if you want)

Rt 146, Jarrettsville Pike is pretty drive thru horse country and
it finally ends at the Baltimore beltway.

In my opinion, I put many more miles on the Red Lion, PA
to Baltimore Beltway run.

Someone else will have to help you on the leg to DC.
I always used Rt 95 at speed.

Have a blast.

If you drive down 81 to route 11 it will take you thru Appromatix (spelling) one 430. Route 11 (crosses over Skyline drive) is a switch bhack over some of the most beautiful mountians in eastern U.S. You will not make good time but will never drive a nicer road either. The roads are well paved and smooth and there are several little towns to stop in to do your PMCS

Been so many years since I did that run I can't imagine what the roads are like now. The Washington-Bal'more Expressway was a mass of giant potholes when last I ran it... In an MGB and me eye-teeth hurt at th' end.
