Ya ever wonder how so much "made in China" stuff
gets to our stores? Here's some photos of their latest
cargo ship to ply the seas. My tarpon machine fishing boat
is but a blip compared to this. And it steams at 33 knots !!

I guess it returns to China empty.

unreal,

dale

That is previously the largest internal combustion engine in the world. It is soon to be supersceded.
We have just received orders for 8 engines each 14 cylinder, 98 cm bore, 2.66 m stroke, 115000 hp.

The Emma Mærsk still is the largest TEU ship on the seas, though with only 109000 hp.

And for natural gas, we have orders for 45 ships, each with two engines, the largest of these are 265000 m3 of lng.

No way it could cross the Pacific with half its prop out of the water!

Probably- shipyard launch photos with no cargo aboard and very little fuel.

Donn- could ya make me a little 300 HP, natural gas engine for my tarpon boat??
THAT would grab Homeland Security's attention !! Tinster doing 160 KPH across
San Juan harbour!!

Bought and paid for with U.S. currency no doubt!

OK guys - guess I'm going blind again.

Where does it say in that article that the ship has anything to do with China, other than (probably) carrying Chinese goods? It's a Danish ship.

Altho' I must say I found this part of the description interesting: "EMMA MÆRSK can carry 1,000 forty foot reefer containers."

APL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore-based Neptune Orient Lines, a global transportation and logistics company engaged in shipping and related businesses,

APL may mean Asia Pacific Lines

Singapore to Oakland, California run.

The 1,000 containers of reefer are probably the
Colombian leg.

errrr - maybe I'm just dense. Singapore is an independent country in southeast Asia. It has nothing to do with China far as I can tell.

T.

you are absolutely correct of course

er um uh ... Bugimike - did you just delete something?

Anyway, that is one *heck* of a big tugboat. Taking Dale's most recent TRF order to PR, no doubt.
