Friend's MIssing Son Found

Some of you may recall back in January I reported that two young men, Kyle Kerschen and Michael George from Albuquerque, went missing while snow boarding at Wolf Creek, Co. Kyle was the son of friends of ours. Tom, Kyle's Dad was a fellow co-teacher with Mary and I for NAMI.

Well, this morning's paper reported on the front page that searchers had found the bodies of the two boys:

"Michael George was found sitting against a tree, his snow board removed. Kyle Kerschen was a short distance down the mountain."

"Searchers found the bodies of the two men, both 27, who had been buddies since childhood, in an area outside the boundaries of the Wolf Creek Ski Area..."

"The two apparently became disoriented in white-out conditions and tried to snowboard down the wrong side of the mountain in a steep and rugged area known as the Knife's Edge. Searchers found both men about 900 feet below Knife's Edge..."

This is very sad, but we are thankful the families will now have closure.

Sad story, Boss. I'm glad for the families that they could get some closure, even though sad stuff.

How awful. A good friend of mine was in Ski Patrol in Colorado for about ten years and said that white-out conditions are some of the scariest moments he ever faced, and he had a beacon. Apparently it's VERY easy to get disorientated in those conditions.

It's terribly sad. But like you said, Basil, at least the families have some closure now.
 
We all knew the outcome and Closure is certainly welcomed
but the pain will always be there for these families.

I can add no more to the sentiments so ably expressed by all of the above! My thoughts and prayers go out to the families! :grouphug:
 
There are no words to express the sadness that these families must be feeling. Children should never leave this earth before their parents. I am sure prayers are being said by those of us who didn't even know them. So sorry, boss.
 
As humans we do stuff we may regret. We don't know we're finite 'till we're faced with finality... some of us survive that decision, some don't. Very sad.
