I have a spare TR3 engine and transmission that are available free to anyone willing to come to East Texas to pick them up.

The engine is partially disassembled, but is complete except for the head. I believe it's from a 1958 TR3. The transmission (non-overdrive) is from my 1959 TR3 and the top cover has the dipstick. Transmission needs rebuilding but would be a source for major parts.

i need an engine - my car came with a hole punched through the block from a failed piston rod. Are you firm against shipping? if shipping is an option can you provide some pictures?
ps - just new to this site so if you do have more info linked already please let me know how to access.
thanks
Eric

Hi Eric,

Apologies for not responding sooner, but I just now saw your post. Unfortunately, I have no interest in shipping - I just need to get it out of my garage. As I mentioned in the original post, the engine is complete except there is no cylinder head. I hate to scrap it but it looks as though that may be be my only option.

I hope you can find one closer to where you live.

Best wishes,

Rick

You did not mention the engine numbers, which would be of interest before coming after it.
I believe you can safely scrap the non OD box.

Hi mctriumph,

Reading from a mirror, as the left side is facing the garage wall behind some “this and that” and not easily accessed at present, the engine number appears to be TS33957L.

Yes, I think you're absolutely right about scrapping the gearbox.

Those numbers might make somebody with a 58 Tr3 very happy to own as a #'s correct spare motor.
No doubt there is such a person, wait patiently, it will be great karma when it happens!!
