TR5/TR250 Free is not so free!

A friend of mine had a set of wire wheels 5.5" x 15" "They should fit your 250!" You can't beat the price FREE! So I ordered the new wheel studs, nuts, splines and knock offs. $450. O.K. not bad for a set of wire wheels. I take off the original rims and take all 8 to a wire wheel shop in Walnut creek to have the red line tires mounted to the new (free) wire wheels. Well of course the off set is 1 3/4" different....... But he just happen to have a set of Triumph wire wheels and tires already mounted just sitting in the corner. $400 bucks and they are in the back of my truck. The tires are a lower profile but the handling has improved quite a bit. The speedo is off now but we can live with that. So the free wire wheels only cost me $850 "it's only money"

I don't know if I should keep the hub caps and wheels for shows or sell them.
P.S. I do like the look of the redlines with the funky hub caps.

I too like the hub caps. They were also on the GT6 of that era, only 13 inch. The car looks great.

I'd hang on to them, they won't go down in value. But then again I'm biased, my first TR6 was a 69 with the same hubcaps and I kind of liked them!

"Free is not so free" - reminds me of my favorite online car ad description "Rust free!"

(just means there's no extra charge for the rust)
