Free Garmin GPS Updates
Garmin's "City Navigator NT 2009" mapping database update is available free for some of us using certain GPSs - and for a limited time (apparently).
I don't know if the free update is available to all NT-database based GPSs or just newly "registered" ones, but I registered my 1.5 year old GPSMAP-496 and Garmin immediately let me download the 3.8gb database update!
Street updates might not have occurred in your area, there might still be some database discrepancies, your mileage may vary, yada yada... but heck, it's a $70 value for free.
The update works with the Nuvi 200, 250, 270, 300-series, 600-series, and 700-series. It also works with a number of StreetPilot c3xx, c5xx, 7xxx, 27xx, 28xx series receivers, the quest, zumo, and GPSMAP 478 and 496.
To see if your receiver is eligible go to my.garmin.com, set up an account (or login) and have your receiver's serial-number ready.
