Frank - got rid of his ugly black hood bump.

Well, until I find a replacement hood I did a quick & dirty patch. I found some X-Rust paint at the True Value store across the street thats a pretty good match to the Brown.
Take a look:

This was accomplished by using a 3/16 inch thick rubber square, cut into an oval and attached with high temp RTV.
Then painted with the rustoleum type spray paint.

Like I said, until I can get a new hood.

Sure looks better. Nice temporary work, though of course we'll see if it's still on there in 3 or 4 years -- have to be careful with those "temporary" fixes. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I think someone else on this forum once told me "there is nothing more permanent than a temporay solution." /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Look's good, though.

I intentionally used materials and workmanship not designed to last - with the fact in mind that the most permanent things are temporary.

About the carburetor, I pulled the breather off and replaced it with a half spherical piece of stainless steel mesh. It's not the best, but I had to get rid of the black bump.

Nice job, and the match is awsum.

Man this thing drives like a "bat outta heck" too /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
I can easily drive it too fast for it's tires, it's got a whole lot of upper end. There's still a lot of little annoying problems to work on, but that's the LBC SOP right?

Gotta get a speedo working, and the tach. Maybe just replace the Hitachi with a Weber.

I suppose I can go to the auto parts place and ask for a speedo cable for a B210 Deluxe. Then see if it will somehow mate up with my standard speedo. Not much chance, probably going to have to find a Nissan speedo. Wish I could maintain a nice LBC dash, but if I can't then so be it.

Good temporary fix....if you take hte hood to a competent welder, he can cut a piece of metal, shape it, & weld it to the hood so you'd never know it had ever been cut (someday ask me how I know - on an aluminum hood no less!)

Thanks Tony, I suppose I should try to find that "competent welder".

Bill - I know it's been said before but... WOW!

Thanks for the info on the speedo!
