I hope these photos are of help to anyone who
will be installing a new front sway bar or
refurbishing an old one. Here is the insides
structure of the frame front end. It also now
demonstrates the thru-bolt concept for the radiator
shield installation is valid.

Are you interested in starting a TR6 frame refurbishing company?

I don't have a boat to take you fishing, but I can guarantee you'll never be hungry before, during or after your day on the frame.

From the Subject I thought that the photos would show the the frame being crushed!

Nope,

I post the photos for other Triumph owner rookies
just like me who know almost nothing about auto
mechanics and even less about how a Triumph is put
together.

The TR guru guys know this stuff by memory and are
fortunate to have that knowledge. The rest of us either
learn the hard way or we lose interest in car and abandon
it.

I'm just the "stupid kid on the block" meaning no harm
to no one.

Dale / Tinster,

Sometimes I think I know something about mechanics, and TRs. Other times I know better. I would consider it a compliment if someone called me as stupid as you! You are an inspiration to the rest of the kids on the block. Keep up your posting/documentation.

Dale,

You have passed your Apprentice, Journey Man and Master Mechanic levels in many of the major areas. We get you a little deeper in carb tuning and ignition and you'll have it all.

Now how about adding my frame to your to-do list for the winter?

Hey Paul,

I'll be glad to assist, given all the technical help
you've sent my way.

A few conditions must apply:

1. Minimum outside temperature of 75* F
2. I don't do black frame refurbishing. Strip to bare
metal, get rid of rust, Eastwood rust primer and then
two coats of acrylic modified two component epoxy
paint-color medium grey.
3. Rice and beans at least every other day
4. Spit roasted pig for Saturdays lunch
5. Bikini babes on demand
6. Some place to drop a hook in the water

glad to be of service:

I'm working on the rice and beans. I'll get back to you!

Dale,

Don't forget - INSIDE the frame too. I use Eastwood HD Anti-Rust (like Waxoyl) sprayed liberally.

Thanks Peter,

I was wondering how and what to
do about the insides.

gracias, amigo,

Eastwood also sells an undercoating gun for applying anti-rust inside the frame. I think that I purchased mine at JCWhitney for less. It has a 24" wand and various tips to spray out the sides of the tip for full coverage.

I started first with a rust convertor, then the anti-rust coating. The Eastwood anti-rust self-heals if scratched to prevent air for getting to the metal. On-sale for $11.99 quart right now.

Don't buy the black undercoating, it's not right for the job as it tends to trap moisture.

Thanks Peter,

But due to Homeland Security rules, I cannot purchase
ANY off-island liquids. Eastwood rust products are a big
no-no. (I did have a can of their rust undercoating
smuggled thru a second party).

Dale, I am amazed at the ignorance you profess all the
while demonstrating an uncanny level of proficiency.
I think you are just being modest, at least to some
degree. My take is you've been around a shop of
some mechanical nature (the name is Tinster, hmmmmm).

All that said, I enjoy every post and every picture,
so please continue to keep us posted (no pun intended).

So what will happen when Ole Crypty's done and looks
like a show car? Dang, we'll get you a Jag.

Nope 2wrench-

Never been around a shop, didn't own a single car
tool until the wife bought me that "almost 100% restored
to showroom condition" TR6 that is now known as the
Crypt Car.

It is my goal to have the Crypt Car restored to a
point a reliability where it will be rechristened "Amos"
like the hardworking Amish farmer who never quits and
always gets the job done.

Tinster is play on words.

I am an expert in designing extreme wind, building
envelopes for the pharmaceutical industry. Mostly the
roofing systems above production areas and clean/sterile
areas.

In days of old, roofs of important buildings were
constructed with lead. (plomo in latin) When plumbing
first came around the pipes and fittings were lead.
So we got plumbers. (Plomeros in Spanish)

Roofs then started be constructed with tin- ergo Tinster.

I am ignorant of auto mechanics... not stupid in general.
I'm left handed and therefore a creative thinker and can
usually figure out a problem.

Here's a photo of my garage assistant and technical adviser.

Try a local paint store for rust converter. Nothing too priority in these converters, chemistry is all the same. Benjamin Moore makes one that is easy to work with.

Paul
so where do you get access to unlimited 'babes'???????
Regards
Craig

Shhhh, Craig!!! Dale hasn't notice that I didn't answer the babe part. At our ages, we're more concerned with the food anyhow.
