Frame check--any pics?

Does anyone have any pictures to post of this area mentioned in the Vintage Triumph Register:

*** Two particular special problem areas are where the trailing arms (for the rear suspension) and differential are attached to the frame. Look very carefully at the location that the trailing arms mount to the frame. Very easy to get to, it's just behind the seats, and underneath the car. If there is rust on these pieces, get up, dust yourself off, and say 'Thanks, but no thanks'. ***

I got a little excited /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif when I found my '72 6 (very complete car, 60,000 documented miles, newer paint, newer tires, good chrome, very good interior except for cracks in vinyl dash, very clean engine compartment and new top) and I didn't do a very thorough check of the underside /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

(I hadn't yet discovered this website)

The following pictures (click to enlarge) show the trailing arms and their connection to the frame. This is a problem area on some TRs. The trailing arm brackets bolt through the frame through internal frame supports. The metal should be sound all around. Mine just had surface rust.

Also, in the first picture if you look close you will see the attaching points for the differential. These brackets should be boxed in to strengthen them.

Here is a picture of a repair to the rear differential front support. The area on the right has had a plate welded to reinforce the stud. The left area is ready for a plate to be welded on.

More pics of the area.

George,

Look at the pictures that I posted here of the frame before stripping. On the second link was the one spot that required repair. As with Ray, everything else was surface rust, but we took a hammer to the entire frame to make sure and that's how we found the pin hole in the frame on the right rear. All other areas are fine.

My body is off the frame right now. Let me know if you need any more pictures. It has already been sandblasted and painted, so I am not sure how much help it will be.

By the way, this is not an example of "surface rust"

what did it roughly cost to blast the frame?

I wish I had followed that advice. I fear I may have some of that "surface rust" that jackag91 shows in his picture. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cryin.gif
Jackag91, how did you resolve that? How much frame did you have to cut out?
