Scott, is that last photo of your B? The painted bumpers and white top are a dead giveaway. (As is the overall excellent look.)
I've seen a lot of owners use "auxiliary" props at shows. Usually, it's to get the hood up higher so people can see in without hitting their heads on the hood or prop.
At home, I use a big, honkin' piece of PVC pipe when I wanted better access to the engine bay. (But I don't use it at shows.)
