four weeks and counting!

Just made a batch of Dad's specialty! Pickled eggs and beets. Now I just have to wait four weeks for the pickling process to take effect.

ETA: I figured that this would be the place for it, since it is "pub" food.

Oh WOW! I'm a real fan. It's also breakfast food around here.

OH YEAH! Haven't had those in YEARS!!

One of Mom's specialties. Leftover Easter eggs always met their fate thus. And the color from the Easter egg dye, combined with the beet juice made for some interesting "eye candy" while we enjoyed them.

~ All that dye I ingested over my formative years prolly 'splains a lot! ~

Also bar food back in the day, eh Doc.!!

I remember a "trick" someone showed me when I was little. You take a pickled egg, a glass jug and a match. Light the match, drop it in the jug, place the egg on the mouth of the jug and soon - POP - the egg is inside the jug in one piece. Hey, I was little and thought it was COOL! LOL

The bad part is, I went into the frige to make my lunch today, and I was so tempted to just reach in and grab one, even though they have only been in for less than 12 hours. That note on the jar is taunting me I tell you!

Now to see if I can get some Ginny Cream Ale imported down here to GA!

Do you do pig's feet? I tried them once, not bad, but them again I was in the pub way to long when I did.

I can't bring my self to even think of trying pickled pigs feet. Same with collard greens.

I'll have your greens then, Rob. :smirk:

I'm a card carrying OMNIVORE.

Seems I may be the only one who is familiar with Genny Cream Ale.....and Delta, you are a sick, SICK man!!! ROFL Willingly drink a Genny Screamer??!! Then combine it with pickeled eggs???!!! That is just wrong!!!

I remember when the Canadian breweries went on strike and bars would import Genny beer. The Canadians wouldn't drink it! They said they weren't that desperate!!

Not at all, Pete! I lived part of my life on the south shore of Lake Erie. We had Genny available. I remember it in Pittsburgh as well.

Darn, now I'm gonna hafta make some pickled eggs. Last batch didn't last very long. (and definately didn't get to sit up for the weeks it needed to)

Anyone remember Old Frothinslosh?

The pale, stale ale, with the foam on the bottom.

Doc??

Just like the website says, I swiped one from the basement fridge when I was about 14. HATED it. Now I know better. Used to drag the empties back on a Saturday morning.

ETA: Genny doesn't get shipped down here. Neither with Yuengling either. I can still get Iron City though. Perfect for football season when I have the Steelers games on.

I've not seen Genny here but there's a Yuengling BREWERY within a ten minute ride from us.

Maybe they overdid the Gennesecret!!!

No if I could only find "Old Bavarian" down here...

Wheeling (moundsvile) WV native here.

Even though I quit drinking, Yuengling black and tan was one of my favorites.

Go Steelers!
