Whilst traipsing home Saturday on the back roads from Baton Rouge, I discovered a cool little drag strip and race track. I always knew it was there but never sought it out. My good fortune we caught the tail end of a few races, quit professionally set up. One race I watched with glee as a little yellow frog eye Sprite kicked everyone's arse. Man, that guy could drive! He was up against a number of lesser Porches and several Z cars. What a glorious sound that little booger made. The next race, a Brazilian fella in a new Mini crushed everyone, even lapping most of the Miatas. Had to leave (my spouse was getting hot) before the Viper was pitted against the Ferrari. My favorite by far was the little yellow Sprite.

I will be back now that I know where it is.

Walter Mitty here could just see myself flinging around the course. By the time I get the training, license and the car prepped (and go through the resultant divorce) I would be on Medicare. Dream on.

Me Cher, I tink it is 'bout half way between Donaldsonville and Pierre Part, in da little town of Belle Rose. But, you can't get der from here.

I went to the chevy shoot out there(mum's the word). They had a rocket car with a woman driver that cleared the track in under 5 seconds!! I was behind it to the left when they lit it twice -there is a bar with a plexyglass front to the right-it nearly blew the bar down!!It threw a barrel at least 100 yards just grazing me.....and I ate grit & dirt the rest of the day!!!I didn't even see the race....Luckily they ran it twice,I of course, was at the finish line for the second one-LOL I'm a quick study-she kicked ass in both races (little human interest point) I'll try andpost her picture if I can figure this out!
