Forum search and Door Check Strap ?

Hi everybody,

as have been advised, I am reading the archives in the forum. Still I am not able to make the seach work as intented, I might not know how to do it properly. I click on the yellow arrow on the right of Search, and then click on "Advanced", I then write for example "shroud" in the terms field (without the quotes), I mark in any subject and body, and in the date range I write "11" "Years" in the "newer than" field. I click on "Submit" but I just always get 12 pages of results (exactly 300 results) that go from 06/10/11 to 01/03/10, nothing older than that year.... looks a bit rare to me, in fact I have tried other terms and I never get more than 12 pages of results (300 results).

What am I doing wrong? Or is it supposed to work that way and then I have to be filling from one date to another and so on...

What I am doing for now, to be able to read older posts, is reading all Keoke's posts and start from there...

Anyway in one of those posts (https://www.britishcarforum.com/bcforum/ubbthreads.php/topics/51307/Re_Door_Check_Strap#Post51307), I can see they are talking about a door check strap, which if I understood correctly, keeps the door open wide, booth dors in my car close if you don't keep them open with the hand which makes somewhat difficult to enter/get out of the car. Is there suppose to be such a mechanism to keep the doors open in an BJ7? Can anybody post a pic so I can see what is my car missing?

Thanks in advance for both questions,

Ignacio

Hey Ignacio
Go to the Moss Motors website-www.mossmotors.com-and look at "doors and fittings". There is a very clear drawing of the check strap assembly. It will keep your doors open. You can also get them from AH Spares in the UK. If you still have them on your BJ7 try to tighten the nut in the middle which might be loose and is where the assembly provides the stress point to keep the door open.
Regards
Mike
