This is a new class is SCCA (and we are adopting it in EMRA too).

Formula First is an update of the familiar Formula Vee class that has been around since the '60s.

I built two autocross FVs with my students in the early '70s and they were great fun. Go ~HERE~ to see them.

Formula First cars use 13" wheels/tires, 4-wheel disk, 1600 cc dual-port engines, and other more modern stuff.
These cars still must use VW trans, VW beam front axle, swing axle rear and air-cooled VW engine.

Looks like a nice way to bring back FV to club racing.

Looks like a fun car.

They didn't open the rules up as much as I had expected, though. Still pretty restrictive, but I think the primary intent was to keep the "V" class alive. Aircooled 1200 engines are getting harder to find.
We had one out last season, and the lap times were comparable to the "V"s.
