Went for a ride today to the city and the car was hauling arse. With lots of sucking noises. Got home and popped the bonnet to let her cool off and forgot that I had installed the 3 venturis on the carbs, leaving off the 3" K&Ns. Goodness, she like to breath! Good thing I had socks on them. Only one bug stuck on the sock.
 
Don't need no stinkin' air filters! :cheers:

Bug wouldn't hurt nothing important.
 
It's not the bugs, but the sand and dust that does the damage. Trust me, it does. Some sort of screen filter is essential.
 
I wonder, do they even have paved roads where Bill hangs out? :whistle:

It's been said that Bill can take that TR6 where angels fear to tread.
 
That's a relief, Bill. When I saw this title, I was thinking that the bonnet may have been lowered onto something that didn't belong in the engine compartment.... Whew..

Ken, they are talking about <span style="font-weight: bold">us</span> you know.
 
Obviously someone who thinks we drive on logging roads.
Thanks to the Casino's along the Coast, Mississippi has some of the best State and County roads that I've ever been on.
 
I remember the joy of zooming along logging roads in the northern Sierra, top down in a TR4, clouds of dust behind us. What a hoot. Ops, look out for that truck...
 
I bought a foam air filter ast sears for a shop vacuum cleaner and cut it into 4 pieces. I put two of them onto to air filters on my 1958 TR3A. Them I poured some Amsoil "oil for foam air filters" on the foam.

Thanks, but the car has no miles on it since the restoration was completed. The engine has only run about two hours. Those velocity stacks are more for show I guess. I have a pair of socks for them, but will most likely put on some proper air filters...Then again...what's more important, looks or function. :laugh:
 
I live on a dirt road so use K&N filters, when I have the time, as in 'nothing to do', I may try to modify an original set of filters by gutting them and fitting K&N innards.
Those stock filters look sharp but might keep a bird from being inducted, nothing smaller.
