I have just seen a rallye prepared example for sale. This is very interesting for me,but I have no experience whatsoever with these cars. Can you guys give me any ideas what to look for?
I would have to go to England /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif so would want to be sure first.
Thanks
Curtis

I would suggest contacting a Ford owners club in Britain, not many of these cars can be prepared for rallying, so perhaps this one is known to club members.
Even if not they could tell you what to look for and give an idea of values, and spare parts availability.
The only ones I haveseen here in Canada were cared for but poorly painted, possibly indicating a low market value which doesn't justify the cost of a professional paint job.
Simon.

Thanks Simon.I am waiting on some telephone calls but thought I would get some ideas from the forum. It's priced about right but it depends how hard it has been worked!

These cars are hard-working and rugged. Tony Dro of Classic Cars magazine owned one that he had prepared for classic rallying, and he enjoyed some success with it, and had a blast in the process. Might even be the same car, who knows? Mechanically, these are reliable, and pretty much bullet-proof.

Thanks Steve. It might well be that car. BUT something strange has happened. I have made a sensible decision, which doesn't happen often concerning cars! Have decided not to proceed as the car will be too heavy for my trailer. This would mean that I would not have the safety net if there was a problem on a rallye.Cosidering that the last three have been, broken suspension in the Alpes on the Wolseley, disintegrated dynamo in the Vosges mountains with the Healey 100 and suspected big end bearing failure on the Austin closer to home at Bordeaux. I have plenty to do at the moment!!

Now that is the first sensible decision to do with cars that any BCF member has made to date! I think that under the circumstances you were wise. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

However,I am now being tempted with a Triumph Herald Coupé 1961 with 1300 Spitfire engine and gearbox. And also prepared for rallying. That's in England as well. Now that would fit on the trailer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
If there is any further news it will appear under the Triumph section.
