Some might recognize this car, one of Simon Horton's old cars, a Cortina with a Ford 302 V8 stuffed into it... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazyeyes.gif Does anyone know if this was originally a Lotus Cortina car?

Anyway two years ago he sold it to a guy here in Alberta, who has done some additional work to it, I saw it at a show in central Alberta today (a non-British show).

And I've been assured by the current owner of the car that it's very fast!

My second thought on it is: "To be certain of it's origin you'd need a chassis number."

...first thought was: "OoH! GIMME!" /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:] I bet he surprises folks when the light turns green! [/QUOTE]

You can do that with a "regular" Lotus Cortina! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

I believe that's the Cortina that belonged to
"Super7".He can probably tell you all about it.

I'm just merely curious... And thought some of you folks might be interested... And I never thought of Super 7, PM sent... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

wow, that looks mint. could do with some Minilites to replace those 5-spoke wheels though. my mates brother has a mk2 1300 4-door in lotus colours, is a bit of a banger but looks really cool

heh... talk about a red light sleeper:

I saw this one in person three years ago at Lake Tahoe... on the exterior this bugeye looked 100% stock except for the rims...

8 liter fuel injected MOPAR big block under the hood!

The best part was he told me he did it just to see if he could shove that motor in there, but never expected it to drive well. But when he took it out for the first drive he said he couldn't believe how well it handled!

I sold my car to Simon. That said, I can't say if that is my old car or not.

It certainly looks like it, but any white 2 door with a green stripe would. Mine had cut bumpers like that.

It was not a Lotus. It was a GT bear in mind that no MK II Cortina was a Lotus though. Unlike the MK I Lotus Cortina, the MK II never saw the inside of the Lotus factory. They were all ford built, but had the Lotus engine.

Jeff Uren used to do a nice job of sliding V-8s into MkII Cortinas, they were badged as the Cortina Savage. Not an official Ford model, of course but they used to have an excellent reputation.

I had a 1971 MkII Cortina GT, which I bought very cheaply in 1973. It had grey metallic paint that flaked off early, so the original owner got rid of it quickly - some problem with the batch at Dagenham, I understand. It didn't look great, but it went very well.
I liked Cortinas - simple, basic, no-frills cars with satifactory performance for their day.
