Don't think you could shut down the engines and contine to fly the "plane" for hours on end.... it's a glider on steroids

That looked like alot of fun. Would have loved to have seen the P-38 in person, and the B-29. What was the sideways sliding, hanging on the prop maneuver called?
 
The Flying Car at :08 is pretty cool... have only seen it at the EAA museum.
