Footwell Vent Question

Hi Guys,

I have a question about the footwell vents on my '66 Sprite. I took a drive yesterday and it heated up inside the passenger area so I opened up my footwell vent for some air. I was surprised to find that absolutely no air came flowing through. I went out today and checked the vents and found quite a bit of junk in the passenger side vent but none on the driver's side. What's the routing for the footwell vents, where does that air come from? The original battery/heater tray was replaced with this replacement panel , which has no cut out for the heater vents. Is that the cause of my vent issue?

I think you have already answered your own question if there is no opening in the section of that panel that would have been under the heater. There should be an oval opening across the front of the battery tray panel. I would say that other than being used as inconvenient stash/mini glove-box lids, those vent doors are redundant! Lucky you cleared that "junk"...it looks like perfect rust fodder!! :eeek:

You could make the vents functional with a hole cut into the panel and a length of vacuum-cleaner hose to a fresh air source!!
