TR6 Folding TR6 Top

Ok, So I've had the TR6 about a month or so now, I've only had the top down once, and it wasn't properly I just kinda dropped it back as carefully as I could so not to tear anything...But it's gunna be a nice weekend and I need to take some updated pics of it, therefore I'd like to get the top folded properly and the tonneau on it. So my seamingly stupid question is how do you fold it down properly?(in steps)..I know the MGB is a little bit of a struggle to get right so I assume the TR6 is the same?I'll check the owners manual, but I'd like to hear from you guys as well.

Thanks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

BTW: this top has the zip out rear window if that makes a difference.

Its a little easier then on the MGB, especially the good old pack-a-way version.
On my car I fold it exactly as shown in the front of the Bentley book (actually the TR250 Owners Manual). Zip the rear window up. Start on one side or the other and release the lever on the header and the velcro along the top side support, then undo the three snaps behind the door; move to the other side and repeat.
Then, while pushing the top frame downwards pull the top fabric away and lay it over the boot lid. Push the header down. I place a long cloth over the exposed lever pins to protect the top and then fold the fabric back over the top frame and fold the plastic window halves over it. At this point I place another cloth between the plastic windows. Then install the boot cover an' Bobs yer uncle, or somesuch.

Thanks, One thing I hate about our British cars....the tops are hardly worth the effort to put them down.

Nope, I live in Canada /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF

I agree. But I tend to keep mine down for long periods since I usually won't drive in the rain. Thats wot the bloody Landies are for...

Agreed. Mine usually stays down the entire summer, unless I get caught in a shower or wash the car. I guess it's a bit of a chore to put up and down, especially compared to newer cars. However I don't complain to much since I spent nearly 10 years putting the top up and down on a Jeep Wrangler (YJ with the old style top, not the new TJ's with the nice folding one). Now that was a 10 minute afair if I also put on the tonneau.

Mine sits outside, so I usually keep it up....But I believe I have a spare TR6 full tonneau kicking around here somewhere so if I can find it I might use that for awhile.

You know, I've got a full tonneau for the TR6 also and never used it. It was in the trunk of my car when I bought it, in like new condition. Thats probably the reason I've never used it, I tried to get it on once and it's never been stretched. I gotta sit it in the sun for a few hours and warm it up, then try to put it on. Seems like a pretty cool thing though to drive around with just the drivers side zipped open and the rest covered.
