MGB Folding convertible vs stow away. What years? How much difference?

My 1966 MGB came with a folding convertible top, but it had the slots in the sides where the two-part top would have mounted, and the crossbar for the tonneau cover. I'm wondering if someone switched the tops out.

I also noticed that I can't get the folding top to go all the way down into the area behind the seats. It sticks up far enough that the tonneau cover can't be mounted over it. Do these tops fold all the way down? Or do they always stick up a bit?

Thanks.

I've had all 3 top variants on my car at one time or another. Currently have the later folding top. Any top/frame can fit on any MGB as a set, so it's always possible your set has been swapped.

My top does fold down enough to get the tonneau cover on, but it's close. I use the process in that John Twist video and it works. Does help if the top is warm, I can get it folded a bit tighter.
