Flywheel Clearance Rivergate 5 Speed?

Just put the Firenze lightened flywheel on to the crankshaft.
When it's lightly taped on to its 2 mounting bolts, I can turn the flywheel.

After I tighten down the 6 bolts I can't turn the flywheel. The instructions say to 'check that the flywheel isn't hitting the plate', can't really see between what's hitting, but obviously it is.

Book also says to call Rivergate if there is a problem, but that's Monday. Anyone whose done the rivergate kit...did you have this problem and what was done to solve it.

Thanks..If no reply I'll post what Bill or Will say is the solution, probably some sort of washer of space will be needed.

Is it hitting the oil pump cover?

Not alot of information here, but I'll take a stab at it. First off are you using the rear seal kit Rivergate offers, if so I may have a idea what your problem is. While I never used the Rivergate rear seal kit, I have used the Mini Mania ones with aluminum flywheels, including Fidanza (again I assuming that's what you are talking about). The registry part of the flywheel, the section of it that slips over the end of the back side of the crankshaft, has to be turned down a bit as to not interfere with the rear seal, on the MM seal kit we would relieve the Fidanza registry about .100" to make sure the registry didn't hit the seal. This could be where you having a interference, if so you you'll need to have this area relived some what with a mill or lathe to get rid of the interference. Mini Mani does have a spacer they sell with thier kit, and it does stand the stock flywheel off enough to have clearence, but not the Fidanza aluminum flywheel, it registry is deeper than the stock unit, but really doesn't need to be. Hope this helps.

Hap, thanks for the great information. I noticed after removing the flywheel last night that there are scratches around the registry that indicate that it's the head of the bolts that are holding down the RIvergate seal plate that are causing that problem.

I'll be calling Rivergate later on today...
