I just returned a Harbor Freight floor jack with a low profile because it crashes down with out control. Does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement that will fit under a Healey? I'm looking for slow control when lowering the car.

Yep TH, get one of those little Japanese car jacks people on the forum have been talking about.

I have a 4 ton HF jack that's about 5 years old and is still in perfect condition. It's used all the time. Min height is 4.5 inches which is ok for everything I use it for. My son talked me into buying an aluminum racing jack, one that's used on nascar circuits. I won't say what it cost, that would only make me look dumber than I feel! It jacks so fast, that you almost have to put all your weight on it to lift a car. It's designed to lift race cars up fast that weigh nothing. What a waste of money! I bought a Hein Werner for lower clearance. Believe it or not, it's made here and not imported. Works very well and I would buy their brand again.

I've been checking a few jacks out there and found a problem with lowering. There is a tendency for them to just drop as apposed to a slow decent. My cheap one does fine but it needs to be replaced. Does enyone know about the Jegs 1.5 ton floor jack? I need 3 1/2 inch min. hight.
