Fleet Reduction

From three down to one Triumph now. The TR6 I sold last summer, the TR7 this summer, and now the Spitfire remains. I never got the Spitfire running this summer so I admit defeat and now sending it to my mechanic. I really hoped to be more involved with this car, but it looks like I'll always be a checkbook owner. Sigh. Anyway, he is an ace and will have it running by the time I return to the U.S. for a Thanksgiving drive.

What is it doing? Does it have spark, fresh gas? Is fuel getting to the carbs?

Stick around here, Dan! There are enuff folks here to have you up to speed like "Cliff Notes"!!!

Yeah, I know there are a lot of knowledgeable guys here, but I am overseas and I just don't get enough time when I come home to spend the time required to really learn this stuff. I did get help on this issue before, but I couldn't work it out in time. I would like to drive the car once before the snow flies....

I really need to take a course in mechanics.

my "course" was self-taught, after I bought my first Triumph.

as far as fleet reduction goes, I tried that too, but, when trying to get one ready to sell(after sitting too long) I remembered how easy(and fun) these cars are to work on, so, after the sale, I bought another...

Do you have points or Petronix ignition? Did the car run before and just quit, or was work done on it that may have caused it to quit?

If points, it may just need a new condensor and points. Check the rotor to make sure the blade isn't loose. It could also be the plastic insulator isn't properly installed.
