Flash Flood

Just as I finished cutting the yard, the sky opened, thunder rolled, lightening struck & an hour later we'd had 1-1/2" of rain.....more than the gutters & downspouts could handle....the stream between me & neighbor went to 2' deep & about 10' wide (& I'd just cut it right before the rain - it was dry! With grass!)....several yards are flooded....Dish network went out....man!!

Guess the drought might be over!

Edit: National Weather Service just issued a flash flood watch for our area!

Paper reported this morning that the thunderstorm & flash floods last night left 3,000 houses without power!

Today you couldn't tell everything was flooded! Well, except for a little water in my garage.

AND you didn't have to rake up the clippings!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Hey Mike,

You want grass clippings?

The last hurricane thru here buzz sawed everything
from 20 height and under. Then it plastered the
clippings onto the sides of the houses all the way
up to the roof line. Green/grey, pasted sludge.

yucko!!

Yep...& not only are they not there...but, you know that last line of grass clippings the mower leaves in the middle of the yard? The one you hate to go back to rake up? Well, today its not there!

Vas is das "clippings"? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

I hack the "volunteer" plant life down to uniform height about three times a year. "Lawn" is a thing to waste the drinking water of my generation's grandchildren on. And fuel I could better use to get to clients' offices. Indigenous plants and ROCKS here. "Florida Xerascape." /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif
