Hello BCF crew. Thank you for bringing me aboard. I'm Jim, recently retired and perhaps mid-lifing badly. In 1974 I turned 16. I remember a Triumph ad in a magazine; it had a Spitifre car in front of a Spitfire fighter. In the corner was British Ace James "Ginger" Lacey. The caption was "Ginger Lacey growls "Spitfire." I wanted one. We would go to the Leyland dealer in Phoenix and I would try not to drool on them. I've always wanted one. Well, last November I found a 1974. It was on Pawn Stars, you can see the YouTube vid if you search. It's got issues but runs and drives. Fifty years of PO tomfoolery leave me plenty of work to do. Then, going completely mad, I found a '76 Spitifre in a ghost town (literally) in southern Arizona, near Tombstone. It was cheap, rotted and has no keys. I got it to experiment with. The body is really straight. The floors and interior are gone. But the rebuilt engine is to be my plaything to tear into. That way my '74 stays on the road while I learn.
I recently stripped the dash wood. I re-veneered it with teak. I think I did OK for not being a furniture guy.
It's good to be working with you all.
Cheers
