Sounds as if I am finally going to get access to a treasure trove of 70's Japanese cars. A great many rear drive cars with 5 speed transmission's. I will get the 210 tranny's but am wondering what else to go after. Is there still a Toyota kit for spridget's? If so what trans from what car? There are
other goodies. To name a few- Datsun Z cars, early RX7's, lots of Celica's and Corolla's. What should I be looking for?
KA.

Maybe some early rx-7 rear ends. These are popular for narrowing (esp if it is a lsd). I think the corolla T50 transmissions are useful as are the starlet units.

Yeah Trevor, How do you tell if they have a LSD. Theres even a RX3. I've heard that engine trans unit will drop right into a spridget. Z trans supposed to go in MGB's and big healey's.
Sounds as if there are other interested partie's so one has to get while the getting is good. I wonder if the T50 was the only 5 sp in the rear drive corolla?
Hope I get a few more with more expertise than I on this subject.
Kurt.

Don't forget 80's toyota pu 5 speeds for TR's and also 240z rear drums for TR's.

Thanks Paul, I did'nt look for toyota pickups but I will.

A few more cars FOR TRs:
HVDA conversion kits fit all TR-2 through TR-6 series engines with Toyota 1982-85 Celica or Supra, 1984-96 pickup truck 5-speed, or 1992-97 Lexus SC300 5-speed manual transmissions.

Any one else before this thread fades into oblivion! Does anyone know if the toyota trans conversion for spridgets is still available and what trans it requires? Theres a bunch of 70's Celica lift back gt's or what ever with 5 speed's.
KA.

There is a guy in Australia that makes a kit for the T-50, which is what should be in those Celicas. However, when I wrote him about it, he said it would not work for the Spridget... only the Spit. :frown:

The toyota transmission for the spridget is a K(something) IIRC. It is the one found in the early/mid eighties toyota starlets.

Thanks fella's, looks like there's alot of stuff if I were into triumphs! Several B210's from the the 70's. They have a pretty good head for an A series Datsun motor that I plan on putting in a midget.
Anything else?!
Kurt.

If I'm not mistaken 1978-1983 280ZX 5 speeds is the Rivergate transmission, you may say something on the big Healey forum about the Toyota gearboxes. Rivergate website I'm pretty sure give you more detials about wht trnnys to get for their kits.
